6 Months +:

  • Choose a date for the ceremony, reception, and honeymoon

-Consider work schedules, travel for guests, and special factors concerning the family.

  • Choose a location for the wedding ceremony and reception

-Many churches and reception facilities are booked well over a year in advance.

-Hors d’oeuvres Only, Buffet (hot/cold), Family Style, or Served Sit-Down Meal?

-Afternoon or evening meal?

-Projected guest list size….is the facility big enough?

-Cash bar or open bar?  Consider costs.

  • Consider and delegate expenses

        -Will the bride and groom and/or families pay for the wedding?

        -Payment for Tuxedoes and Gowns

  • Select your bridal party

                                        -Size of bridal party is up to the engaged couple

4 - 6 Months:

  • Confirm services and secure a receipt and/or contract for everything
  • Schedule physical exam and blood test
  • Official legal documents

                                        -Marriage License

                                        -Bride’s last name change (bank accounts, driver’s license, etc)

                                        -Insurance forms

                                        -Social security and tax documents

  • Purchase wedding rings
  • Begin addressing and processing invitations with a R.S.V.P. date

2 – 3 Months:

  • Confirm wedding and reception times… (Allow ½-1 hour for pictures)
  • Mail invitations 6–8 weeks prior to wedding date
  • Meet with selected minister or officiant…outline ceremony
  • Schedule rehearsal dinner date, time, and location
  • Beauty shop, barber shop, nail, tanning, and makeup appointments
  • Confirm pickup of gowns and tuxedoes
  • Help out-of-town guests to make lodging arrangements
  • Make confirmation of honeymoon arrangements
  • Purchase honeymoon necessities (film/camera, sunscreen, power converters, swimsuits, food, traveler’s checks, rental vehicles, etc.)

1 Month:

  • Arrange final fitting of all gowns and tuxedoes; confirm colors
  • Confirmation of all accessories (headpiece, shoes, jewelry, stockings)
  • Process all name/address change documents via mail
  • Confirmation of details

                                        -Prepare wedding announcements

                                        -Final shopping

2 Weeks:

  • Review guest list and call any guests that have not responded
  • Call caterer and relay final guest count
  • Confirm accessibility to reception facility for caterer, D.J., decorators and balloons, cake delivery, and florist

1-2 Weeks:

  • Meet with Juke Box Hits  to establish a reception itinerary including desired order of events and traditional activities to take place at the reception.  Assure that D.J. host is able to correctly pronounce names and will present himself or herself in an outstanding and professional manner.
  • Hold any last minute meetings with your caterer, photographer, videographer, bakery, florist, etc.
  • Pick up tuxedoes, gowns, decorations, and any other remaining supplies
  • Create a list of special photos and settings you wish to have taken
  • Have all receipts, reservations, confirmations, tickets, travelers’ checks, credit cards, and passports prepared in an enclosed folder for your upcoming voyage
  • Pack your luggage! 

1-2 Days:

  • Full Ceremony Rehearsal
  • Rehearsal Dinner
  • Finalization of seating arrangements
  • Set up and decorate reception facility if necessary
  • Beauty Shop, Barber Shop, Nail Salon, Etc.
  • Have an enjoyable evening with your family and closest friends…you’ve covered all of the details and you’ve earned it!

The Big Day:

  • Get up early (if you can sleep) and get ready for your wedding day
  • RELAX!  Enjoy what should be the best and most memorable day of your life
  • Rest assured that you have hired the best and that this is the day for all of your hard work and preparation to pay off
